Before going any further you need to ask yourself two questions.

• Is my idea marketable? 
• If so what is the market for my idea?

If you find yourself unable to answer these questions then you take a step back and consider how you could alter your idea to make it marketable. You don't need to reinvent the wheel to have a marketable idea. Making slight "quality of life" changes to existing products is often more than enough. 

If you have made it this far and would like to take the next step it is very important that anyone you talk to about your idea has signed a NDA (non disclosure agreement). This is very important because if you don't yet have your idea patented then anyone could take your idea.
